Johannes Fritzsch conductor
Brent Grapes trumpet

Rich with evocative landscapes and national celebrations, four works come together under the baton of Johannes Fritzsch. Mozart’s Haffner Symphony brings the festive streets of Salzburg to life, Vltava traces the journey of a river through the Czech countryside in Smetana’s heartfelt ode to his homeland, and Janáček’s Taras Bulba vividly depicts the lives and deaths of a heroic Cossack and his two sons.

Topping off this round-the-world program, WASO’s homegrown Principal Trumpet Brent Grapes premieres Nigel Westlake’s Trumpet Concerto, bringing it all back to Perth.
