WASO is pleased to add a fifth destination to the Orchestra’s 2023 regional touring schedule, announcing performances for Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November 2023 in Albany.

WASO Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor, Asher Fisch, will conduct WASO Perform The Greats, which will also feature Emily Sun as soloist in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Albany will be granted an exclusive first experience of Sun performing the work in Western Australia, with Perth audiences able to hear Sun perform the work the following week as part of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto at Perth Concert Hall.

Mozart’s thundering Overture from Don Giovanni opens the concerts, whilst Dvořák’s dramatic Seventh Symphony completes them; rounding out a program of three of the greatest classical composers of all time performed by a full symphony orchestra on the Princess Royal Theatre stage.

“I’m looking forward to returning to Albany to perform this fantastic program with Emily Sun. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy music from some of the great composers – I can’t wait to share these concerts with our regional audiences” – Conductor, Asher Fisch.

Earlier in the year in March, WASO performed more classics in Mandurah and Bunbury, whilst May saw the Orchestra take a contemporary collaboration on the road for the first time with WA hip-hop artist Drapht. This touring production of the MC’s fully orchestrated hits will also travel to Karratha for two performances in September.

WASO continues to provide the soundtrack to life in WA, with the Albany performances bringing the Orchestra’s total of mainstage, full symphony orchestra concerts in the regions to seven for the 2023 year.
